Palestine Teach-In

Get connected and learn with us about:

the Palestine exception at Duke

The Palestine exception, known in longhand as the Palestine exception to free speech, describes the tactics employed by Zionist institutions to punish individuals and communities teaching, researching, and showing solidarity with Palestinians and the cause of Palestinian liberation. This breakout group will explore how the Palestine exception is on display at Duke.

how AI fuels the genocide

In this breakout group, participants will: (1) discuss what AI is and what it isn’t from both humanities and science policy perspectives, (2) explore a short history of “AI” in the military industrial complex, and (3) explore how big tech/AI power U.S.-backed Israeli forces in Palestine.

the environmental devastation of genocide

In this session, we will explore how narratives of greenwashing and ecofascism support the genocide in Palestine. Particularly, we hope to think collectively about how Duke policies and programs contribute to and support environmental destruction in the region. Finally, we aim to connect environmental violence in Palestine with the erasure of indigeneity around our campus.

bearing witness through art

In this session, two local artists with connections to Gaza will share how they use art to voice their experience of the genocide and in so doing have found an avenue for advocacy.
